From the “You can’t have it both ways” File

Developers cry foul over Windows Security improvements.

Umm, do you want it to be more secure or do you want job security? The proper answer is both.

There is no product in the world that is guaranteed as safe from people with criminal intent to break it. I don’t even think the safe at my bank can make such a claim and I know homebuilders and car makers can’t. So, with Windows as with everything else, there will always be *ssholes who try and break your machine via software. Some of them will figure out new ways to do it; others will just copy them.

Microsoft is doing the right thing by tightening up the kernel. Developers for third party security companies should continue what they’re doing, because there will always be a need for them as well.
