It seems our betters in Washington don't think you have the right to bequeath your money that you earned and already paid taxes on to your children. It would appear that they don't want you to be able to plan for what happens to your estate. Because it's not your money that you earn, it's what they let you keep, right?
The Senate today refused to vote on the permanent repeal of the estate tax. In case you weren't aware, when you die Uncle Sam gets up to 46% of the money, investments, and property that you have saved up in your lifetime. Including your business, if you own one. So, the family farm gets sold to some developer instead of being worked by the sons or daughters, the small business closes down instead of sending the grandkids to college, the future that a shopkeeper envisioned for his next generation gets mortgaged so that we can continue funding the National Endowment of the Arts, give food stamps to illegal aliens, subsidize crack whoring, and paying for abortions of blue-state women who "really wanted a boy this time."
This is why it's important for the conservatives to NOT stay home this fall. Yeah, we're mad about the pork and the illegal alien amnesty, but if we lose anymore seats things like this that could actually help build up our country will never even come up for a vote. Of course, my point of view may be skewed since my senators have been really stand-up lately, so there's no one I can write or email or call to threaten to stay home in November. Sucks.
I looked at the roll call vote and was surprised to see that both senators from Illinois voted "nay". I mean, you'd think that with the number of dead people who vote in Chicago, the death tax would be less popular.
And Senator Voinovich of OH. You, sir, are a disgrace. Please, if you don't have it in you to commit ritual suicide over this shameful behavior, at least change the letter behind your name. Crying, whiny, spineless RINO. Even McCain voted "yea". That should tell you what a liberal you are.
Mad as hell tonight. Well, as mad as I can be on the day we put Zarkawi in the ground.
Hence, the quote of the day:
